BEFORE YOU MOVE REMEMBER TO

• Arrange for disconnection at your current address and re connection at your new address of telephone, electricity, gas etc.
• Return any borrowed/hired items (library books, dvds etc).
• Notify change of address to Post Office and redirect mail to new address.
• Change address on Electoral Roll (forms at Post Office)
• Cancel any home deliveries (paper, milk etc).
• Notify your Bank/Building Society of change of address.
• Set aside personal or valuable items that you wish to take yourself.
• Retain any items that you feel you may require before your goods are delivered to your new home.
• Check with your solicitor/real estate agent that all is on schedule.
• Confirm your moving dates and times with your removal firm.
• Organise carpet cleaners etc.

BEFORE MOVING REMEMBER TO

• Defrost, clean and wipe dry any fridges or freezers.
• Empty, drain and prepare washing machines/dishwashers as per manufacturer's instructions.
• Disconnect and prepare any electrical equipment (stereos, computers etc) as per manufacturer's instructions.
• Dismantle swings, home gyms, trampolines, or any prefabricated items that need to be dismantled for transportation.
• Empty any fuel tanks or gas cylinders.
• Empty and dismantle water beds.
• Separate any personal papers, cheque/bank books, jewellery, money, medications or any items of value that will be taken with you.
• Pack you clothing and all items you wish to pack yourself.
• Sort and discard those items that cannot be transported or that you do not wish to have moved.
• A good idea is to have a small box (shoe box is ideal) to keep all those odd items in. i.e. remote controls, electrical connections, bed legs, keys to cabinets etc. Keep this box on hand and when you get to your new home and you will then have all those important items on hand when needed.
